Storytelling for Teaching and Learning: A Storytelling Toolbox for Teachers and Educators

Description

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Inside every lesson, in every class, a story always awaits to be told, to be heard, to be lived…

This course aims to equip teachers and educators with innovative and practical Storytelling tools and techniques to enhance their students' motivation and active participation in class, both in language subjects as well as in core subjects (History, Geography, Science, Maths, and more). You will learn how to use and create narratives that captivate your students' attention, make complex content more accessible, and foster a deeper understanding of the educational content.

Storytelling can transform lessons into memorable learning experiences.

Storytelling is a powerful tool that enriches the logical organisation of ideas and the acquisition of knowledge in subjects and disciplines while strengthening oral and written expression. There is no doubt that through Storytelling, students can better describe scientific phenomena, historical events, geographical features, mathematical patterns, linguistic worlds, and complex ideas to express relevant and meaningful points of view and conclusions. Storytelling will always offer avenues for meaningful and engaging learning in the classroom and beyond.

The use of practical strategies such as Storytelling Challenges, Story Circle Sessions, Digital Storytelling, or Fold and Tell, will enable participants to create a Storytelling toolbox and a portfolio of resources that they can tailor and adapt to their own unique learning environment.

Discover how experiencing stories and designing inclusive and multisensory learning activities can revitalise your teaching and empower your students to become active and inspired learners across the curriculum!
